Children are a crucial element in the vitality of any church. The kids here at First United Methodist Church of Sylva are not only what we call the future, they are what we call the NOW. They are an ever-present force in the life of our church. Our children learn not only about Jesus Christ through fellowship, games, activities, and Bible study, but about what Jesus instructed us to do: "Go and make disciples..." Matt. 28:19. We teach our children that true ministry is not just about sitting in a church pew. Whether it's through singing Christmas carols in a nursing home, delivering flowers to shut-ins, or volunteering at a special needs camp, our children are learning one of the most important things Jesus taught us by his own example; to love and serve others.
