First United Methodist Church of Sylva
Proudly Welcomes You To…
CLUB 4:12

Club 4:12 is the children’s ministry of First United Methodist Church of Sylva. Every thing we do is inspired and driven by a God-given desire to unveil God’s love to children and families. Every month we focus on a new virtue, such as responsibility, patience, respect and service. Each week children learn a Biblically-based “bottom line.” For instance, if the virtue of the month is peace, one week the bottom line might be this: “The best way to stop a fight is never to start one.” Children will hear Bible stories, learn memory verses, and practical applications appropriate to their age level. All of these elements are presented in an exciting, interactive, and fun manner that children will enjoy coming back to week after week. Each Sunday, small groups (Sunday4:12) are led by caring adults who have been approved and trained by the Club 4:12 staff. Sunday 4:12 is offered for children ages 3 to 5th grade and is filled with fun activities, prayer, and a personal, one-on-one discussion of the teaching truth of the day. It is in small groups that life change takes place and friendships are formed.

Please join us on Sunday, August 29, 2010 to kick off our 2010-2011 Club 4:12 year! We will meet in the Asbury room (fellowship hall) at 10:15 to celebrate this fun “Promotion Sunday” event!

Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity.

FUMC KIDS

Each week here at First UMC Sylva is filled numerous ministries, small groups, times for fellowship, and ways to worship. Our children are an emphasis in our church and it shows with the constantly growing children's program. We offer activities not only on Sunday mornings, but also on a weekly and monthly basis. We try to expose our kids to as many different ways to learn about Jesus as possible, including just spending time in fellowship. It is important to us that our children grow up in the companionship of Christian friends!

In addition to focusing on growing up in Christ, we also spend a lot time emphasizing the importance of family relationships. Parents are meant to have the primary role in teaching and disciplining their children. Our job is to support parents in their efforts through effective partnering with families. Here at First UMC Sylva we strive to encourage family discipleship through our understanding, our attitudes, and our lifestyles. We welcome all family members into all ministries of our church.

On a monthly basis our children are invited to participate in an activity or outing such as swimming, bowling, hiking, picnicking, etc... There are many times when our children are able to come together to minister to people in need. We welcome children of any age to join us throughout the week, and hope that you will make First UMC Sylva your church home!
