Tithes and Offering: A tithe is the first tenth of your income. Offering is above and beyond that. These funds given will support the budget set forth and approved by First United Methodist Church of Sylva Church Council.
Short-term Missions: click here to visit our Short-Term Mission projects. When giving, you may specify which mission trip or project you would like your funds to support and which individual you are supporting.
United Methodist Committee On Relief (UMCOR) is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to alleviating human suffering around the globe. UMCOR’s work reaches people in more than 80 countries, including the United States. We provide humanitarian relief when war, conflict, or natural disaster disrupt life to such an extent that communities are unable to recover on their own. UMCOR spends 100 percent of designated donations on the projects our donors specify. When UMCOR donors give their time, money, and supplies, they join UMCOR as the hands and feet of Christ. Click here to see how you can give directly to UMCOR. You may give through our church by making a donation and writing in the "Memo" section of your check "UMCOR."
Benevolence: These funds will be used to help those of our Church and surrounding community in need financially.
Building Projects: The church will have on-going projects that will need additional funding not set forth by the operating budget. For a list of these projects and descriptions, click here.
Memorial Giving: gifts are an easy way to remember of family and friends. All memorial gifts are acknowledged to the family of the person remembered and a thank you sent to you.
Capital Campaign: pledges are being accepted now for our three year campaign to pay down $600,000 of principle on our building debt. Pledge cards are available in the Christian Life Center, Asbury Room and church office. Pledge payments are welcome now.
